Want More Control of Your Life?

A prospective client recently gave me three reasons why he’s ready to make a career change.

1.     A manager half his age who is clueless about the pandemic’s impact on customers.

2.     He’s being asked to start visiting clients in person again, but he wants to continue working remotely—and not just for safety reasons.

Last year he spent time in both Florida in South America. He loved the flexibility.

3.     After more than 20 years in the same industry, he’s tired of the corporate world. He’d rather make a more direct impact on people’s lives.

Can you relate to any of these?

If you answered yes, you’re in good company!

Many professionals in the later part of their careers are discovering that this is their moment of truth.

  •  More than half of the attendees at my recent Zoom presentations reported feeling numb, or on autopilot at work.

  •  Another half said they they wish they could find more meaningful work.

  •  And nearly 80% reported they feel more aware of their limited time on this earth and what really matters to them.

At the same time, Gallup reports that in 2020, the percentage of American employees working remotely doubled.

Yet fewer than half of employers have established official flexible work policies.

I promise you, there ARE ways to work differently, and take more control of your life.

Here are some resources I am sharing with clients.

This Harvard Business Review article gives some great guidance on how to start.

In the “being prepared” category:  this article about what to do if you are fired should be required reading for every employee.

And this Bloomberg News story shares valuable tips on how to create success over 50.

It’s not easy to create a new path on your own. If you are feeling a little confused or afraid to change, I invite you to set up a time on my calendar to talk. There’s no charge to connect, and I always try to add value even if we don’t decide to work together.

Meanwhile, spring is in the air! Hope you take a few minutes to enjoy it!

Warmly,

Judith
