Why Are These Things Happening?

Something different is happening.

Last month, more than 120 people tuned into a webinar I co-presented with Jeri Sedlar, co-author of the classic book Don’t Retire REWIRE. I am still fielding requests for the recording.

Last week, my email included:

  • A message that a client, a successful attorney, has decided to leave her position with a law firm so she can fully commit to helping grow minority and women owned businesses.

  • An AARP article by Audrey Edwards, a Black baby boomer who had always stayed on the sidelines but now feels compelled to join the protest movement of millennials calling for change.

  • A message from a Wharton business school alum that he and his wife have decided to “check out of the race and start pursuing our travel dreams.” They are selling their house and planning to live in an RV until they decide what’s next.

Why are these people suddenly changing course?

Maybe it’s not so sudden. Maybe the urge to break out of old patterns has been there for a while.

But now, in this extraordinary time, our long-held assumptions about the world and our future may no longer be valid.

Because we don’t know what lies ahead, we are rethinking how we want to spend our precious time, skills, and energy.

What about you? What’s most important to you--- right now, in this moment?

There’s a lot of talk about how businesses and individuals are pivoting to adapt to changes in society.

But pivoting is tweaking your actions or delivery to accomplish the same goals.

What if your priorities have changed?

That requires more than a pivot. That’s what I call a “reset.”

The decision to reset can feel exhilarating and freeing. It can also make you quake in your shoes.

“What if I am wrong?  What if I fail?”

We all worry about failing. But working with a skilled, empathetic coach can help you clarify what you are really risking and what is truly possible.

Call or email me at 610-585-1945 or judith@judithkurnickcoaching.com. Or make your free, confidential appointment directly on my calendar.

During our chat I’ll ask you a few questions to help you focus. And we can decide if a little coaching can help you press the reset button.
