Good New Things ARE Happening Now!
Think it’s a bad time to start something new? Look again.
One of my 50-something clients was recently hired for a dream job. Another (70-something) is turning longstanding mentoring relationships into lucrative consulting contracts.
Yes, it is a very painful, challenging time. But it may also be a time to go for what you really want.
Especially if you are contemplating a “third chapter.”
My colleague, franchise coach Harris Gubin, supported a professional in transition who did not want to go back to corporate America. The man knew that the next job would only last for 4-5 years, and then he would have an even tougher time getting hired.
He had always wanted to prove he could succeed as a business owner. So Harris helped him find and research a concept that he was excited to invest in: a painting business.
Now he is controlling his own destiny.
This article describes how other 50 and 60-somethings are doing the same!
“It’s never the wrong time to follow your dreams.”
A recent Sunday New York Times (I still love my print paper on Sunday!) included a colorful pullout section sponsored by Dropbox celebrating the small businesses who launched in 2020 “despite everything.”
On the back page is the line, “It’s never the wrong time to follow your dreams.”
But you can’t follow your dreams if you don’t know what they are!
So here’s how to start.
Update your bucket list. Don’t have one? Create it!
Put your feet up and allow yourself to dream. No judgments allowed!!!
Think of the things you would love to do if nothing was in the way.
Write them down.
Then let them marinate.
Which ones jump out at you? How do they make you feel?
Getting excited? Hearing all the reasons they wouldn’t work?
That’s where I come in!
As a coach, my job is to help you figure out what is real, and what is in your head.
That goes for both opportunities and road blocks!
